What are Diamond Cut Alloy Wheels?

04 February 2021

Diamond cut alloy wheels are becoming more and more popular nowadays. Despite their increasing popularity, it is not always clear how to distinguish them from painted wheels or what is the best way to refurbish them.

In this article, we look at some of the most common questions when it comes to diamond cut alloy wheels and what are the best ways to look after them or get them refurbished.

What’s the difference?

Diamond cut alloy wheels are distinguished by their two-tone appearance, in that they have a darker inner and silver outer.

This style of the wheel has a machine turned face over a painted background, if the wheel is the same colour, then it is more than likely a painted wheel.

How do I get them refurbished?

Refurbishing diamond cut alloy wheels need specialist equipment such as a lathe which is used to cut back the face, and then reapply several coats of lacquer to bring the wheel back to its original look.

Painted wheels require less equipment but do need special attention to remove any dents, scratches, and scuffs and to repaint and lacquer to match the original manufacturer’s colour.

At JD Wheels we use the latest software and technology to ensure that your diamond cut alloy wheels continue to look their best.

How long will it take?
